Senior Electronic Design Engineer
R&D Department
A leading global company in industrial automation is seeking a Senior Electronic Design Engineer to join its Research & Development team in Malacca. This role is instrumental in designing machine control systems, developing electrical solutions, and supporting both prototype and production phases for advanced industrial machinery.
As part of a small but impactful team, you’ll work alongside internal stakeholders across engineering, sales, assembly, and procurement. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with PLC systems, motion control, and electrical CAD, and thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Design machine control systems in compliance with CE and local safety standards
Prepare electronics circuit diagrams (ECD) for new builds, upgrades, and serial production
Identify weaknesses in electrical processes/components and propose improvements backed by data
Coordinate closely with Sales, Assembly, R&D, Procurement, and external suppliers
Redesign components or systems to improve performance, reduce costs, or manage end-of-life issues
Create project specifications, test protocols, and engineering documentation
Oversee prototype testing, reporting, and refinement for usability and longevity
Manage engineering change processes (ECN) and cross-departmental communication
Provide troubleshooting support both in-house and at client sites
Deliver technical training to internal teams and customers as needed
Serve as internal project lead when assigned for evaluation or development tasks
Support sourcing and supplier discussions for component selection and clarification
Practice 5S and support a culture of operational excellence across the R&D workspace
What They're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in automation or machine development
Proficient in PLC programming, motion control, TwinCAT, E-CAD systems, and SAP (BOM creation)
Strong understanding of engineering standards, machine design rules, and safety compliance
Self-driven and adaptable, able to manage tasks independently and collaboratively
