Commercial Manager

Location: Northern Region, Malaysia

Key Responsibilities

 

• Lead and manage the commercial team, overseeing procurement and quantity surveying functions.
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to support business and project objectives.
• Manage tendering, procurement, contract negotiations, and supplier relationships.
• Oversee cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting, valuations, and final accounts.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, claims, and contractual matters.
• Provide commercial support to project teams and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Mentor and develop commercial team members to drive performance and growth.

 

Key Requirements

 

• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of commercial management experience within the construction industry.
• Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of large-scale industrial projects valued at RM500 million and above.
• Strong exposure to industrial developments such as manufacturing plants, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities, process plants, data centres, oil & gas, or EPC/EPCC projects.
• Extensive experience in contract management, procurement, cost control, claims management, and commercial risk mitigation.
• Demonstrated track record of leading commercial/QS teams on complex construction projects.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

 

Preferred Profile

 

• Experience with Tier 1 contractors, EPC/EPCC contractors, or major industrial project developers.
• Successfully delivered multiple industrial projects exceeding RM500 million in project value.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, project commercial strategy, and claims resolution.
